About FIT Message from President

Fostering new type of professional who can practically contribute to the international and local communities, and who can fusion knowledge and techniques by their strong interpersonal skills.

I am Riichi Murayama, FIT’s newly appointed president. For over 20 years, I have been at the forefront of education and dedicated myself to training and guiding students at FIT. Based on these experiences and insights, I would like to promote educational reform initiatives in each field and put my all effort into fostering our students with practical and professional skills,readying them for the complex and uncertain era ahead of us.

For students to be able to add value to an ever-changing society, we have begun a multidisciplinary program that allows students to get more than the conventional knowledge and technological skills, and further focuses on social issues such as SDGs wherein they can develop their solutions. In addition, we set a goal to become a hub for distinctive and unique research that can transform the world for the better.

To develop students’ interpersonal skills, we will promote active local engagement and global education and exchanges. On the local level, we will promote activities for solving issues through project-based learning, and by arousing students’ interest in their local communities,we aim to foster the next generation to support their local society. Within our global education programs and exchanges, we will deepen our students’ understanding for different cultures and diversity, as well as strategies for international collaboration and overcoming adversity. We also promote students’ “on-campus globalization” by welcoming more international students to study at FIT and by providing more English learning opportunities to foster global mindsets.

As a driving force of our new projects, we appointed two vice presidents for the first time in FIT history. Together, we are going to build dynamic organizations that can respond to the demands of the time. We also commit to organize a fair and energetic team that considers gender and diversity.

We would like to take this opportunity of our new founding to ambitiously take on these goals,and we hope you will follow our journey to advance student-oriented education.
